With all the noise, division, and constant change in the world today, do you ever feel like you’ve lost touch with your true self—your deep-down, God-given identity?
It’s easy to slip into “survival mode” just to get along, succeed, or keep the peace. But somewhere along the way, we realize: we’ve drifted. We’ve lost our sense of peace.
I’ll be honest—I’ve felt it too. The political tension. The cultural shifts. The pressure to “do success” the world’s way. It can leave you unsettled and even disillusioned.
But yesterday, I was reminded of a truth that cuts through all the noise:
“And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” —Matthew 16:26
That verse stopped me. It reminded me that peace doesn’t come from the world, and the world can’t give it back once it’s gone. Success, money, influence—those can all be fine in the right place. But if they cost your soul and your peace, the price is too high.
So I’m choosing differently. I want to stay grounded in who I really am in Christ. I want to guard my soul. And I don’t want to let the world steal it.
How about you?
Take a moment today—just 5 or 10 minutes—to check in with your soul. What is one thing you can turn down or turn off?
-
Maybe it’s the constant news cycle.
-
Maybe it’s certain social media accounts.
-
Maybe it’s the pressure to keep up with someone else’s definition of success.
Replace it with something that restores your soul—reading Scripture, praying, or even sitting in silence with God or taking a walk in nature, connecting with your family and friends, listening to music.
Challenge what you are hearing from the world – is it really true? Who is going to be an influencer in your life, someone who can help you be true to who you really are? And encourage you to listen to your soul and not the world.
The world will always be noisy. But we get to choose what shapes us.
What’s one change you’ll make today to guard your peace and protect your soul? I’d love to hear your thoughts- just leave a comment ….
In life and health,
