What to do when it’s hard

I’m not gonna’ lie.  These past few months have been hard.

Self-isolating at home.  Not seeing family and friends.  Not going to church (watching live stream instead.)

Not going places I need and want to go to.

What about you?  You must be feeling it, too.

It’s been hard.

Have you had moments of anxiety, depression, listlessness, and overwhelm?

Me, too.

I’ve had harsh words and impatience with my husband, who is working from home.

I haven’t done the things around my house like I could and should have.

I’ve put off work I could have done with my business.

I haven’t connected with family virtually like I said I would.

And I have been snacking sometimes on chips and nuts, when I know eating them doesn’t serve me.  Possibly raising my blood sugar and adding on a few pounds.

What about you?  Have you engaged in some activities and done some things you aren’t proud of?

I get it.  It’s been hard.

But the good news is this:

We can always start new again.  We can apologize to those we have hurt.  We can start working on things that have been neglected.

And we can recommit to taking care of our bodies, eating for nourishment and not for comfort.

This is no time for self-condemnation.  Be gentle with yourself.  It’s been hard.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,”  Romans 8:1

We’ve all been trying to stay healthy and follow the rules.  Being hard on yourself doesn’t help.

Just start again today to be good to yourself, eat what you know will keep you healthy.  If you have gained weight during this time, it’s ok.  I’ve gained a few pounds myself.

It’s been hard.

I’m recommitting and you can, too.  Let’s do it together, ok?
