What To Do About COVID Weight Gain

‘I’m so frustrated.  My pants don’t fit anymore!”

Have you said something like this in the last six months?  I can’t tell you how many people I know have voiced something like this recently.  I get it.  Life has been challenging and some of us have gained weight..

Here are some more examples of things I’ve heard:
“I’m not happy.”
“I can’t seem to stop snacking.”
“I don’t understand why I keep gaining.”
“I hate looking at myself in the mirror.”
“How did this happen?”
” I can’t wait to have my wine (ice cream, cookies, nuts.) tonight. It’s the only thing that makes me feel better.”

I have good news for you.  If you are ready to make the commitment to yourself to make some changes, that extra weight you’ve gained can disappear.  It’s a matter of changing the way you think and feel about this situation.  Then you can change your actions to get the results you want.

I was in this same boat almost 4 years ago.  I had gained a lot of weight and became prediabetic.  Most people who are prediabetic gain weight around their middle.  They don’t know they may be entering into the prediabetic or diabetic zone.

I knew I hated the roll of fat around my middle.  That extra muffin top.  Not fitting into my pants anymore and having to go up a size.  But I did not want to become diabetic.

It was time for drastic action.  I changed the way I was eating.  I very much reduced the amount of sugar and processed food I ate.

I also came up with new thoughts and actions that would propel me forward to the weight goal I set for myself. I reached my goal weight within 6 months and reversed the prediabetes.  It took work, but it’s definitely doable.

I have every confidence that you can do the same.  You are a smart cookie.  You can figure this out.

If you have let things go over the past 6 months, it’s ok.  You are human and it’s been hard and scary at times.  But that’s no reason to give up taking care of yourself.

During those 6 months I was losing the weight, I had help from a life and weight coach.  Someone to walk this journey with me who could talk me off the edge when I wanted to give up.  Someone to keep me accountable and remind me of my goals.  Someone to show me the healthy foods to eat to keep the weight off for good.

Without feeling deprived.
