How Do You See Your Body Headed in 2018?

If I asked you the question, “How do you see your body headed in 2018?” what would you say?

Have you made a promise to yourself that next year is the year that you are going to make some changes?  You are going to “eat right” and exercise.  You are going to resist the desserts, cut the bread, you name it.

I get it.  I have made those promises in January.  I have recorded every morsel that went in my mouth.  Kept track of every calorie.  Every second of exercise.

So the plan was to have lost 10 pounds around my middle as soon as possible.  Definitely in at least 6 months.

But it didn’t happen.  So frustrating.

So.  How do you see your body headed in 2018?

What if2018 could be the year.  The year that the inches around your waist finally started to disappear.  The year your cholesterol and blood sugar numbers come down.  The scale shifts down to a number you haven’t seen in 20 years.

You are excited.  You are also disbelieving.  What happened that was different?

I don’t know exactly what happened with you.  But I can tell you what happened with me.

I made a decision to lower my blood sugar numbers by cutting out sugar and flour.  Whoa.  That was major.

You know how I did it?  I made a commitment to myself.  And kept it.  It felt really good being kind and compassionate and loyal to myself.

Wouldn’t it feel good to make a commitment to yourself and keep it?

So how do you do that?  You find your compelling reason for making the changes.  It has to be something truly meaningful to you.  Does not have to be noble.  Do you want to rock those skinny jeans you’ve been seeing?  Or the leather skirt?

Of course it can be for a very good and serious reason.  You want to get out of being diabetic and taking diabetic medication?  You want your knees to stop aching?  Maybe avoid surgery.  You want to be around to watch your grandkids grow up?  What’s your reason?

Once you have your compelling reason, make the commitment to yourself that this year you are going to make the changes you have been saying you will make every year.

Let 2018 be the year you honor yourself.  You honor the wonderful human being that you are.  You honor the promises you make to yourself.

Wouldn’t that be great?  So.

How do you see your body headed in 2018?

I would love to hear your thoughts.  Have you made yearly promises to yourself that were difficult to keep?  Please share in Comments.

Hey, I know this process can be challenging.  It was for me.  If you need help making 2018 be different.  The year you keep those commitments to yourself.  The year your body heads in the direction you want. Let me know.  Happy New Year!
